When a Scout or family leaves your troop, the right way to remove them is to set a Departure Date on their profile. Campfire then hides them from your directory but keeps their history intact.
Why not just delete?
If you sync your roster from Scoutbook, deleting a member would only be temporary — the next sync would re-add them. Setting a Departure Date keeps the record in your database so re-imports recognize them as a former member instead of a new one.
How to remove a member
- Open Campfire and tap Members in the navigation.
- Tap the member you want to remove to open their profile.
- Find the Member Info section and tap the edit (pencil) icon in the top right of that section.
- Scroll to the Departure Date field and pick the date the Scout or family left the unit.
- Save your changes. The member is hidden from the directory immediately.
What happens after
- The member no longer appears in the Members list, message audiences, or RSVPs.
- Their advancement records, message history, and event participation stay intact.
- To see former members again, open the View Settings sheet on the Members page (sliders icon, top right) and turn on Show former members.
- If the member rejoins later, open their profile and clear the Departure Date — they're back in the active roster.
You'll need the edit members permission to set a Departure Date. If you don't see the pencil icon, ask a leader with admin access to make the change.
